Words can’t prepare you for the Ametis Villa Bali. On arrival, I walked along a ‘floating’ concrete walkway with a beautiful water feature surround into the main reception area, which is more reminiscent of a beautiful luxury home, than anything else. Once checked in, our personal concierge, Antarna gave us a tour of the grounds, an intricate stunning garden maze of villas, spa treatments and the main restaurant.
The villa is divided in to 3 main areas. The bedroom is the only Air Conditioned area, which initially sounds daunting, but when you realise the bathroom is a hybrid room with a luxury spa-quality bath/shower whilst still being half open air.
The bedroom balcony opens out on to the pool and garden… This is where things get very cool. The entire living area is open air, the TV, the dining area, and the kitchen…. all open air. The entire complex is so incredibly clean, thankfully bugs were not an issue, I didn’t even see one spider! (phew!) One night there was a huge thunderstorm, and watching a movie whilst the rain falls all around you is the most surreal experience.
The villas are located in the area of Canggu (pronounced Chang-goo), it’s growing rapidly at the moment as it’s a hot surf spot. The beach is just a 5 minute walk away, and walking 10 minutes in the opposite direction, and you’ll be amongst a few very cool little cafes and bars (I recommend Lacalita, location on my Instagram).
Enough talking though, check the photos… and then book a villa! You won’t be disappointed.
